What Was He Thinking?
A US Congressional delegation just visited Tunisia and came up with the darndest statement.
US Rep. Stephen Lynch in an EPA file photo.
The delegation, led by Democratic Representative Stephen Lynch, held talks with top officials at the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Then Rep. Lynch, who was visiting that country for the first time (and we can tell), showed satisfaction for his visit and promised "strengthening the excellent friendly relations of co-operation between the two countries."
He also went on to hail Tunisia for its progress in human rights, education and health. So much so, he had the audacity to give Tunisia "the role of leader in the region."
Our heads are still spinning. We suspect Rep. Lynch, on his first trip to Tunisia, has a longer-than-expected learning curve in these matters.
So in the spirit of sharing the Tunisian reality with Rep. Lynch and the rest of his delegation, we do invite them to have a crash course about the realities of the "leader of this region." The lessons come in chronological order and only have to do with very recent events:
One, two, three and four.
What was he thinking indeed.
