Another Censorship Weapon, Destroy the Media's Means of Communication
The Norwegian PENN has denounced yet another act of bullying aimed at the Tunisian struggling independent media.
The online magazine Kalima, target of repeated attacks by the Tunisian government, has been hacked and its content "completely destroyed," and its editor "abused by police in the street."
Sihem Bensedrine (above), the editor-in-chief of the publication, made it crystal clear who may be behind this attack.
"I would not rule out the possibility that this act was committed by the secret services, with the aid of hackers or pirates based in Tunisia or abroad,” she added.
The attack on Kalima comes three months after the site was re-launched as multimedia platform and archive.
Corrupt officials like to work in the shadows. Journalists such as Sihem Bensedrine demand accountability and transparency, and sometimes the only weapon they can produce is the plain truth, as long as they are not shut down by those corrupt officials.
